Summary

Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide.


At any point in time , at least 5% of world population is going through some form of depression.


Depression is thought to occur in around 1-3 % of children and young people in UK. Anybody can suffer from depression and it happens in people of all ages, races, income levels and educational levels. Teenage girls are twice as likely as teenage boys to be depressed.


In America,the percentage of adults who experienced any symptoms of depression was highest among those aged 18–29 (21.0%).


Depression is a real medical condition that requires treatment.


Mild depression are usually managed by psychological approach like counselling and psychotherapy while moderate to severe depression requires medical treatment in addition to psychological treatment.
